Looks I Love
Effortless elegance is how I would classify this look. It’s super classy and chic in such an understated way (as I am such a huge fan of, of course) and speaks volumes of the designers taste and elegance. I love the light airy-ness of the furniture selection and how it coordinates beautifully with the millwork. The absolute best part about this design however are the stunning dark grey walls. Grey walls are the epitome of classy, contemporary interiors. I feel you could really NEVER go wrong with a great grey wall, whether high in saturation or low. There is such a common misconception that grey walls are cold or dull, when truly that’s not the case at all. Granted, grey walls can go really dull really fast so it is important to be aware of the LRV, or ‘Light Reflectance Value’ when selecting a paint color. The higher the LRV percentage the more light that particular color mixture reflects–thus, a more luminous wall depicting more depth and dimension, rather than a paint color that rests flat on the wall. 50% LRV or higher reflects light beautifully–eliminating any dull, flat, or cold feeling from your grey. Another great element of this design is the smart coordinating contrasting colors, like the weimaraner grey satin pillows and the gorgeous tufted ottoman. Notice how both the ottoman and pillows perfectly coordinate with the nailhead detail of this Cisco Brothers sofa. These subtle coordinating elements are the things that truly lock in a design and serve as those small but such significant things that ties everything together. Additionally, the interestingly patterned pillows on the other end not only are cohesive with the grey walls, but add a fun break from the seriousness of the furniture structure and style. I can’t get enough of finishing touches in a space, and in this one it is clearly the fun metallic features that pull your eye to them. Doing this in simple accessories, mirrors, frames, and sconces (as done here) are a great way to incorp personality & individual S.T.Y.L.E….styyyyyyyle.
